Common questions

What is Fin AI?
Fin AI is an educational personal-finance coach. It helps you see where your money goes, plan a monthly budget, set savings goals, and ask questions about your own financial data in plain language. It is not financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, and we are not a bank.
Does the AI make up my numbers?
No. Every figure in the app is computed by deterministic code running over your own data. The language model only phrases the guidance around those numbers, and before a reply reaches you the server checks each amount and percentage against what that code returned — anything it cannot trace is withheld rather than shown. Fin can still be wrong about advice, so verify anything important before acting on it.
How do I delete my account and my data?
Open the app and go to Profile, then Delete account. This removes your sign-in identity, linked-account data and bank access tokens, budgets, goals, transactions, and coach conversations from our production systems. You can also request deletion by emailing us. Some records are retained where the law requires it, and residual backup copies age out on our standard cycle.
Is my bank connection safe?
Bank connections are handled by Plaid. Your bank credentials are never seen or stored by Fin AI. The access token we receive is encrypted at rest and never sent to your device. You can disconnect a linked account at any time from within the app.
Does Fin AI cost anything?
No. Fin AI is currently free, with no paid subscriptions or in-app purchases. If we introduce a paid tier, we will publish updated Terms describing the price, billing, renewal, and cancellation before anyone is charged.
How old do I have to be?
You must be at least 13. Fin AI is not a parental-control or guardian-control app — there is no parent dashboard or supervised mode, and we do not require parental consent to create an account.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email us with a short description of what you expected and what happened. Screenshots and your iOS version help a lot. We read every message.
